The Chickasaw County Public Health will hold flu shot clinics during September and October. Tuesday October 21st – Chickasaw County Community Services Building (walk in clinic) The charge for the flu vaccine is $28 unless you have Medicare Coverage with Part B. If you have Medicare, you MUST bring your Medicare card with you to the appointment. The agency will have high dose influenza available per appointment at the office. Future Leading Youth of Chickasaw County will be hosting a soup and salad supper with all proceeds going towards a student leadership university. The event will take place at the Chickasaw County Event Center in New Hampton on Thursday October 23rd from 5 to 7pm. To-go bowls are also available. If you have any questions, call 641-330-9713. Hidden Works of Jay ‘Ding’ Darling @ Milton R. Owen Nature Center

A new exhibit celebrating the life of Iowa native Jay N. “Ding” Darling will be on display beginning October 24th, 2014 at the Milton R. Owen Nature Center, just west of Osage. Darling was a political cartoonist for the Des Moines Register in the early 1900s, and was a highly respected conservationist in North Central Iowa.  This exhibit will feature rarely seen artifacts, photos, and cartoons from Darling’s life. The exhibit will be on display through the end of December.…

Annual “Scouting For Food” Food Drive

The Annual “Scouting for Food” food drive with Cub Scout Packs 4166 & 4100 and Boy Scout Troops 1087 & 1078 –Door tags were placed at homes in residential areas this past Sunday and Monday. Place donations in a grocery sack outside your front door on Saturday 10/25 by 10am. Halloween Comic Fest
