The Charles City Police Department issued a release on their Facebook page stating:
“We are aware that there is talk on social media of some sexual assaults being investigated in Charles City. We just want the public to be aware that we are investigating some incidents. We feel these incidents are isolated and we are aggressively acting on them. We know that it is easy to comment on different social media sites but we encourage the public to refrain from this activity as it could hinder the on-going investigation and also prosecution at a later date.
