Mercy NH Contracts With Two Managed Care Organization Companies

New Hampton, Iowa – Mercy Medical Center has announced that Iowa Medicaid has gone through many confusing changes in the past few months.

Patients of Mercy Medical Center should have received an enrollment packet in the mail from the Iowa Department of Human Resources containing information regarding choosing a Medicaid Managed Care Organization, better known as MCO. The MCO is the company that will provide health coverage.

Mercy Medical Center has contracted with two companies as their MCO, which are either AmeriHealth Caritas or Amerigroup. Mercy has not contracted with United Health Care and WellCare of Iowa is no longer an eligible MCO in Iowa. If patients were originally assigned Wellcare, the Department of Human Resources will contact the patient in March to reassign a person to another plan, unless a plan is chosen before March 18th.

The deadline for making changes is June 16, 2016. To continue receiving covered healthcare at Mercy Medical Center or Mercy Clinics, patients must choose AmeriHealth Caritas or the Amerigroup plan.
