West Union, Iowa – The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department says a semi driver is treated for minor injuries after his rig rolled near West Union on Highway 18.

Investigators say the driver was Charlie Craver, from Texas; he was hauling containers of milk. Craver lost control of the semi, and it rolled shortly after 2:00 in the morning on Tuesday.

Deputies say multiple gallons spilled into the roadway, and Hwy 18 was closed for three hours for clean up.

Craver was taken to Palmer Lutheran Hospital for minor injuries, and he has since been released. He was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.

The semi and trailer are considered a total loss; however, the milk that didn’t spill into the ditch was able to be salvaged by the Fire Department.
