Tornado Siren Issues In Charles City

Public Emergency Warning Siren

Charles City, Iowa – The Charles City Police Department is alerting residents about issues with the towns tornado sirens.

Chief of Police Hugh Anderson said the issue lies within the remote operation of the sirens.

The city is working with the vendors to get the issue resolved quickly.

Anderson said there will be intermittent manual testing of each individual siren at around 10:00am Wednesday. Further testing outside that time frame is possible, in which the siren will sound short ‘bursts’ or ‘growls’.
