Buddy Hield scored 39 points and sixth ranked Oklahoma held off a late rally by Iowa State to post a 79-76 win in the quarterfinal round of the Big-12 Tournament.

That’s Iowa State coach Steve Prohm. Senior Georges Niang led the rally for the Cyclones. Niang scored 25 of his team high 31 points in the second half.

The Cyclones fall to 21-11 and the loss ends Iowa State’s bid for a third straight Big-12 Tournament title.

Iowa has made a habit of suffering embarrasing losses at the Big Ten Tournament. Today was no different.

Gary Dolphin with the call on the Hawkeye Network. The frustration spilled over to the postgame news conference where a reporter asked Iowa guard Mike Gessell what the Hawkeyes were trying to do on the final play which led to a game clinching turnover.

Iowa rallied from 11 down to tie the game but once against failed to make the needed plays down the stretch.

Peter Jok and Jarrod Uthoff combined to score 50 points but needed help and the Hawkeyes finished the game with 18 turnovers.

Iowa is 21-10.
