KCHA Sports Report (3/28)

In a game heard here on KCHA Friday night, the Iowa State Cyclone Men’s Basketball Team took on Virginia in the Sweet Sixteen.  The top seeded Cavaliers were able to jump out early and with their methodical style of play and took a 45-31 lead at halftime.  The Cyclones would make a few runs in the second half and pulled to within single digits a few times, but it was too much Virginia as Iowa State ended their season with an 84-71 loss.  Georges Niang led the Cyclones with 30 points, while Matt Thomas, Deonte Burton and Monte Morris also scored in double figures.  Iowa State finishes their season with a record of 23-11 and say goodbye to seniors Niang, Jameel McKay, and Abdel Nader.  In other NCAA Men’s Basetball news, the Final Four is set as the Elite Eight games were played on Saturday and Sunday.  Oklahoma will take on Villanova and North Carolina will be up against Syracuse this Saturday with the winners playing each other in the National Championship game a week from today.
The Drake football team is wrapping up its first week of spring drills. Rick Fox is entering his third season as head coach after leading the Bulldogs to a 5-6 record this past season.

Fox says spring is the time to focus on fundamentals.

A fucs this spring will be the battle at quarterback.
