The Iowa baseball team slammed four home runs in a 12-3 win over Northern Illinois in non-conference action in Iowa City.

That’s Iowa coach Rick Heller. Tyler Peyton had a grand slam as part of an eight run sixth inning as the Hawkeyes improve to 10-12 on the season.

The Hawkeyes return to action on Friday when they open a three game Big Ten series at Minnesota.

The Luther College baseball team continues to make progress under second year coach Bryan Nikkel. After posting a 20-23 record a year ago the Norse have raced out to an 11-1 start, including a 7-1 record on a trip to Arizona. As a team the Norse are batting .383 and the team earned run average is 3.81.

Nikkel says while pleased with the start there is still a long ways to go.

Luther starts the Iowa Conference race on Friday by opening a four game series at Central.

Nikkel says the biggest key in the conference race will be pitching depth.
