Five Star Coop In New Hampton Has A New Leader


New Hampton, Iowa – There is a new leader at Five Star Co-op in New Hampton.

The co-op’s board of directors announced this week that ken Smith will succeed Ron Pumphrey as the CEO and general manager of Five Star Co-op, based out of New Hampton.

Pumphrey is retiring at the end of this month and Smith will take over as CEO on April 4th.

Smith has nearly 25 years experience in the agricultural industry, with his most recent role as the area manager for The Andersons, a grain, agronomy an energy business in Northwest Iowa.

Smith has both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in agricultural economics from Purdue University.

Five Star was founded in 1916 and has grown to include 1,900 diversified members. The cooperative ahs 19 locations throughout northern Iowa.
