Charles City Child Hit By Vehicle This Morning, Condition Unknown

Charles City, Iowa – A 7-year old boy from Charles City was injured after being struck by a van near the intersection of South Main and Seventh Street in Charles City Tuesday morning. The accident took place around 7:45 a.m.

The boy, whose name is not being released, was taken to the Floyd County Medical Center and then transferred to another hospital, according to Charles City Police Chief Hugh Anderson.

According to a report, the boy’s mother dropped him off at The Bridge Church, located at 913 South Main Street in Charles City, so he could catch the school bus. The church parking lot serves as a hub for school buses in Charles City.

Chief Anderson said the boy ran out into traffic and was struck by a van driven by 47 year old Terri Snyder of Charles City.

The investigating officer has indicated that no charges are being filed at this time.
