KCHA Sports Report (4/5)


The Charles City Comet boys track team was in Decorah yesterday for a meet with four other schools.  The Comet boys finished in fourth as a team with 42 points, but were just four points behind South Winneshiek who finished in second.  Comet senior Shane Feller was first in the 100 meter dash and in the long jump, the Comet 4×800 meter relay team of Adam Stewart, Mason Deeter, Gavin Connell and Jon Zander scored first place points for the Comets.  Charles City’s distance medley relay team of Bryce Foxen, Tyler Brockney, Stewart and Zander picked up second place, as did Brandon Bluhm in the long jump and Foxen in the 110 meter hurdles.  The Comet boys track team will be back in action next Monday when they will head back to Decorah.

The Charles City Comet boys and girls golf teams hosted a triangular meet with Nashua Plainfield and Osage yesterday at the Cedar Ridge Golf Course.  The Comet boys were able to win the meet with a team score of 178 strokes.  Comet sophomore Theo Arndt was the meet medalist with a score of 40 and Comet Freshman Jackson Molstead earned runner-up honors with a 43.  Osage finished in second place with a team score of 191 and were led by Ben Grimm who shot a 44.  Nashua’s boys team finished the day with 203 team strokes and were led by Zach Bond’s 45.  The Green Devil girls won their triangular with a team score of 200 and were led by meet medalist Courtney Tusler who carded a 39.  The Comet girls finished second with 211 team strokes as Comet senior Jamie Sindlinger was the meet’s runner-up after her round of 41.  Nashua finished in third place on the girls side with a team score of 239 and were led by Kelsey Poppe’s 55.  Both the Comet boys and girls will begin Northeast Iowa Conference action today as the boys will host Waukon and the girls will travel to Waukon to take on the Indians.

The Charles City Comet girls track team will host an invitational meet today at Comet Field.  Charles City will compete alongside Mason City, North Fayette Valley, Oelwein, Waukon, and Waverly-Shell Rock.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 5pm.

The Rockford Warrior, Saint Ansgar Saint and Riceville Wildcat boys and girls golf teams will be in a quadrangular meet today along with Northwood Kensett.  The meet will be held at the Elma Golf Course and will begin at 4pm.
