Floyd, Iowa – Ground broke last week for a travel stop that will be located on Hwy 218 in Floyd.
Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores, which will be a 24 hour location, will span 15 acres on the east side of Hwy 218. It will be located across from the locally-owned 218 Fuel Express truck stop and convenience store.
Floyd Mayor Trevis O’Connell was quoted as saying he didn’t anticipate a negative impact on the other businesses in town. He said some semi-drivers, especially those that are a part of a fleet, specifically look for Love’s Travel Stops because of their fuel incentives.
The travel stop will have a Subway, Godfather’s Pizza, retail sales area, around -the -clock maintenance services and five showers. It will also have a truck scale, eight diesel fuel bays, 10 car fueling stations, 80 truck parking spaces and 48 car parking spaces.
It is expected that the travel stop will employ approximately 30 people, offering benefit packages including a 401 (K) plan along with the hiring of local employees.
The store is expected to open in early November.
