Starting Line

The Charles City Comet boys track team was in Decorah last night for a meet with seven other schools.  The Comet boys finished in fourth place as a team with 73 team points which was five points behind New Hampton who finished in second place.  Decorah ran away with the meet with a team score of 149 team points.  The Comets got first place team points in six events including Shane Feller in the 100 meter dash and the long jump, Bryce Foxen in the 110 meter hurdles, Jon Zander in the 1600 meter run, Gavin Connell in the 3200 meter run and the 1600 meter medley relay team of Foxen, Nate Baltes, Feller and Adam Stewart.  The Comet boys will next be in action on Saturday in Waverly.

The Nashua Plainfield girls and boys golf teams hosted a co-ed meet yesterday at the Nashua Town and Country Club.  The Husky girls finished in third place with a team score of 227, Mason City Newman narrowly won the triangular as they edged Osage 212-213.  The Green Devils earned the two individual medals as Courtney Tusler fired the low round of 45 to earn medalist honors and Macy Ott shot a 49 to earn the runner-up nod.  Kelsey Poppe shot a 53 to lead Nashua and Haley Hillesheim had a 55.  On the boys side, Newman Catholic won the team race with a score of 172 as a team, Nashua came in second with 179 team strokes and Osage was third with a team score of 185.  Devin Koob of Nashua Plainfield was the meet medalist as he entered the clubhouse with a score of 38.  Drew Olson led the Green Devils with his round of 43.  Nashua will host another co-ed meet on Thursday while the Osage boys and girls will host a meet on Friday for their next competition.

Now, we check what is on the schedule for our spring sports teams tonight.  The Charles City Comet girls track team will be in Osage for a meet tonight with seven other schools.  Rockford and Saint Ansgar will also be at this meet which will begin at 5pm.

The Charles City Comet tennis team will head to Decorah tonight to take on the Vikings.  This JV/Varsity meet is set to start at 4pm.

The Osage Green Devil tennis team will be in Clear Lake tonight for a dual meet.  This JV/Varsity meet will also begin at 4pm.

The Nashua Plainfield boys and girls track teams will host their co-ed invitational meet tonight.  The meet is scheduled to start at 4:30.
