The Charles City and Nashua trapshooting team was in competition last night as they were up against Cedar Falls and the host team New Hampton.  In the team race New Hampton Red took first place by a wide margin as they finished with a score of 233.  New Hampton Blue claimed second place with a team score of 211, Cedar Falls 3 was third with a 203, Cedar Falls 1 finished in fourth with a 201 and Charles City 1 took fifth place with a team score of 199.  Christian Schwickerath of New Hampton was the individual boys champion as he scored a 49 on the day, his teammate Austin Onken finished in second with a 48, Blake Wolff of Cedar Falls and Zach Heying of New Hampton each shot a 47 to tie for third, Charles City’s best shooter on the was Jacob Greenzweig who had a 46 and tied for fifth.  On the girls side, Rebecca Tierney of Charles City was the top shooter after her score of 41, Danni Priestly of New Hampton, Izzy Worrall of Charles City and Lanie Breitbach of New Hampton all shot a 38 to tie for second place.  The Charles City and New Hampton Trapshooting teams will return to action tomorrow in Nashua.

The Charles City Comet girls golf team was in Osage last night taking on the Green Devils and New Hampton at Sunny Brae Golf Course.  Osage won the meet with a team score of 192, Charles City finished in second place with a score of 204 and New Hampton took third with a team score of 211.  Courtney Tusler of Osage was the meet medalist after her round of 42.  Emma Williams of Charles City took runner-up honors with a 47, Macy Ott of Osage tied for third with Ellie Ewert of New Hampton as they each shot a 49, and Mija Cotton and Gen Wandro of Charles City tied for fifth with rounds of 51.  On the boys side, again it was Osage who won the meet as they finished with 162 team stokes and Charles City took second with a team score of 186.  Osage had the four best scores on the day as Drew Olson had a 38, Ben Grimm shot a 39, David Curha carded a 41 and Noah Krabbe finished with a 44.  For Charles City, Theo Arndt led the way with a 44, Drew Mitchell and Luke Delap had a 47 and Kaleb Ross rounded out the scoring for the Comets with a 51.  The Comet boys and girls will be in action again on Friday when the boys host Waukon and the girls will be at Waverly-Shell Rock.  The Osage boys and girls will both return to the course tomorrow with road Top of Iowa Conference match-ups.
