Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Set For May 14th

Charles City, Iowa – The United States Postal Service holds an annual food drive and the Charles City Post Office has been a participant for the past 24 years. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, May 14th.

Charles City postal worker Jim Sanner talks about the food drive.

Sanner said volunteers will be assisting with the food pick-up to assist the postal workers with the project.

Sanner talked about where participants can place their donated items.

He said that rural customers are asked to place their donated food items in their mailbox, so the rural postal workers don’t have to get out of their delivery vehicle.
Sanner asked that donations not include expired canned goods.

Sanner said if either a volunteer or a postal worker misses a donation, they will come back to get the items.
Again, the food donation drive with the post office takes place on Saturday, May 14th. For more information, contact the Charles City post office at 641-228-3233.
