Osage, Iowa – An Osage teen convicted of killing his mother will finally be sentenced.
Noah Crooks was found guilty in May, 2013, of 2nddegree murder for the 2012 death of his mother in their Osage home. Crooks shot his mother, Gretchen Crooks, 22 times.
Because he was 14 years old when he was convicted, Crooks was not sentenced and was instead sent to the Eldora State Training School for Boys until he turned 18. That will happen this year.
A sentencing hearing for Crooks has been scheduled for May 6 in Mitchell County District Court.
Crooks’ defense attorneys say they will ask for his release. The Mitchell County Attorney’s Office says it wants Crooks treated as an adult offender and given 50 years behind bars.
