The Charles City Comet girls tennis team hosted their lone meet yesterday at Sportsman’s Park as they welcomed in Clear Lake.  Out of the nine head-to-head match-ups between the Comets and the Lions, Charles City was only able to get one victory which was Jodie Sindlinger who won her singles match 6-3, 6-4.  The Comets were close in a few other matches as Emilee Bilharz won 6-2, lost 6-4 and then lost the tie-break 10-5, Emily Heiderbrink was defeated 6-3 and 7-5, and Morgan Kellogg and Bilharz lost their doubles match 10-7.  The Comet girls tennis team will return to the court tomorrow as the will be on the road against Oelwein.

The Charles City Comet boys golf team hosted New Hampton yesterday at the Cedar Ridge Golf Course for a Northeast Iowa Conference 18-hole match-up.  The Comets and Chickasaws were separated by just three strokes when it was all said and done as New Hampton won the meat 365-368.  Carter Stochl of New Hampton was the medalist as he shot an 86, Charles City’s Nate Lasher was the runner-up after his round of 87.  The other three scores turned in for the Chickasaws were Ryan Anderson with an 88, Adam Laures with a 95 and Wyatt Stochl with a 96.  The other Comet scoring rounds were turned in by Drew Mitchell with a 90, Jack Molstead a 92 and Theo Arndt a 99.  The Comet boys golfers will compete again on Saturday in Hampton while the Chickasaws will host Oelwein tomorrow.
