The Charles City Comet boys golfers competed in the Northeast Iowa Conference golf meet yesterday at the Oneota Golf and Country Club in Decorah. The Comet boys finished with a team score of 359 which gave them fourth place in the team race. Decorah was crowned NEIC Champions as they turned in a team score of 320, New Hampton was second with a 350, and Waverly came in third with 358 team strokes. Charles City was led by junior Nate Lasher who carded an 86 as he earned All-Conference honors. Comet Freshman Jackson Molstead also earned All-Conference honors as he shot an 88 yesterday. Drew Mitchell with a 91 and Kaleb Ross with a 94 rounded out the scoring for the Comets who wrapped up their season yesterday.
The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union held their Class 1A, 2A and 3A Regional Golf Meets yesterday to determine who would be moving on to the Regional Finals next Monday. The Nashua-Plainfield Husky girls golf team hosted Region 4B at the Nashua Town and Country Club. The Husky girls took second place at the meet with a team score of 427 and Clarksville claimed the team title with a combined score of 413. Nashua had their four scoring players place in the top ten as Kelsey Poppe led the way with meet runner-up honors as she scored a 101, Hailey Schmitz had a 107 for seventh place, Haley Hillesheim with a 109 and Megan Cerwinske with a 110 finished in ninth and tenth respectively. With the second place team finish, the Nashua-Plainfield girls golf team will compete in the Regional Finals next Monday at the Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Winthrop.
The Osage Green Devil girls golf team also advanced to the Regional Finals after their second place finish in the Class 3A Region 4A meet held at Bear Creek Golf Course in Forest City. The Green Devils shot a 408 as a team while the Clear Lake girls took the meet with a team score of 381. Courtney Tusler led Osage as she finished in fourth place individually with her round of 88. Sophie Muller turned in a 103, Emma Williams cared a 108 and Macy Ott shot a 109 to round out the scoring for the Green Devils. The Osage girls golf team will compete at Legends Trail Golf Course in Parkersburg next Monday for their Regional Final.
The Rockford Warrior and North Butler Bearcat girls golf teams competed at the Britt Country Club for their Regional Golf Tournament yesterday. Rockford was able to place second as a team with a team score of 427 to advance them to next week’s Regional Final. North Butler closed out their season with a fourth place finish. Michaela Krull with a 96 and Sydney Fullerton with a 97 both finished in the top five individually while North Butler got their best individual score from Laura Kreimeyer who carded a 108. The Rockford girls golfers will compete next Monday at the Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Winthrop.
The Charles City Trapshooting team was in Cedar Falls last night. Charles City 1 had a team score of 225 which was just one target behind Waverly-Shell Rock who finished in first place as a team. Juniors Dan Swartzrock and Luke Hillegas led the way on the boys side individually for Charles City as they each shot a 47. Sydney North led all girls shooters with a score of 46 while Izzy Worrall had a 43 to finish in a tie for second place. The Charles City Trapshooters will be in action again on Thursday as they will compete in Osage.
