Minor Injuries In Friday Avenue Crash Near Floyd

Floyd, Iowa – On Friday at 12:32pm, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident at the intersection of Highway 218 and 18 near Floyd.

A 2007 International semi, driven by 45 year old James Rogalski of Bemidji, MN was westbound on the Avenue of the Saints while a 1998 GMC Jimmy, driven by 23 year old Tashelle Johnson of Lake Elmo, MN was stopped at the stop sign. Johnson proceeded to head south when she was struck by the Rogalski semi.

The semi came to rest in the median while the GMC went onto the north shoulder of the westbound lane.

Johnson had 4 passengers in the vehicle, all being transported to Floyd County Medical Center with minor injuries. Rogalski was not injured.

The Johnson vehicle was totaled while the semi sustained close to $15,000 in damage.

Johnson was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.

Floyd and Colwell Fire Departments along with AMR Ambulance assisted at the scene.
