New Hampton, Iowa – New Hampton will see some changes in the Memorial Day events schedule.

This year’s program will begin at 10:20 a.m. on Monday, as it did for years past. Last year’s program started at noon because of the unveiling of the new statue at the Chickasaw County Veterans Memorial to accommodate the schedule of county-wide veterans.

However, the program will remain at the memorial. According to program officials, the feedback was positive about holding at the Veterans Memorial last year. They said it is easier access for more elderly vets and a good central location for the program.

Military veteran Jeff Macon will serve as the master of ceremonies and his brother, Army Reserve First Sgt. Kenny Macon will deliver the keynote address.

Following the program, two short programs will be held at St. Mary’s and Calvary cemeteries in New Hampton.
