KCHA Sports Report (5/26)

In a game heard right here on KCHA last night, the Charles City Comet softball team hosted Turkey Valley in non-conference action.  The Comets came out swinging and took care of the Trojans quickly as they won the game 12-0 in four innings.  Charles City softball is now 2-0 on the season and will be back at it tonight as they open up Northeast Iowa Conference play with a home double header against Crestwood.  You can tune into both games tonight right here on KCHA starting with a pregame at 5:45 and first pitch of the first game scheduled for 6pm.

The Nashua-Plainfield softball team hosted Northwood-Kensett last night in a Top of Iowa Conference match-up.  The Huskies started strong and took a 6-2 lead after three innings, but the pesky Vikings hung around by scoring at least a run in the next four innings which turned it into a one run game in the sixth.  Nashua was able to score an insurance run and closed the game out with a 9-7 victory.  Aubry Bienemann, Briley Fisher, and Megan Wright each scored two runs for Nashua and Mackenzie Ludaman had four RBI.  The Husky softball team is now 1-1 overall and will be on the road tonight for another conference match-up against Mason City Newman with first pitch scheduled for 6pm.

The Nashua-Plainfield baseball team scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth last night to blow past Northwood-Kensett and moved to 2-0 on the season after their 12-7 victory.  Jared Whitinger, Matthew Stille and Braydon Fisher all scored multiple runs for the Huskies and Mason Hyde, Devin Koob and Fisher had multiple runs batted in last night.  The Nashua-Plainfield baseball team will take their perfect record into tonight’s match-up at Mason City Newman which will begin at 7:30.

The Osage Green Devil softball team ran into a tough Central Springs squad last night in Top of Iowa Conference action.  The Green Devils were shut out 15-0 in five innings.  The Osage softball team drops to 0-2 on the season and 0-1 in conference play.  The Green Devils will look to get into the win column tomorrow night at Saint Ansgar.

The Osage Green Devil baseball team lost a close one last night to Central Springs 3-2.  Hunter Wagner’s three hits for the Osage offense was not enough as the Green Devils fall to 1-1 on the year.  Next up for the Osage baseball team will be a road game at Saint Ansgar tomorrow night.

The Rockford Warrior softball team was victorious last night as they won a Top of Iowa Conference game over West Fork 6-4.  Fallon Marth led the Warrior offense with three hits and two runs batted in.  The Rockford softball team is now 1-0 on the young season and will look for victory number two tonight at CAL Latimore.

The Rockford Warrior baseball team lost big to West Fork last night in Top of Iowa Conference action as they fell to the Warhawks 15-0 in four innings.  The Warriors managed just one hit on the night which was supplied by Justin Reams.  The Rockford baseball team is now 0-2 and will look for that first win tomorrow night at North Iowa.

The North Butler Bearcat softball team, behind Taylor Graven’s complete game shutout and fourteen strikeouts knocked off Mason City Neman 4-0.  The Bearcat offense only managed one hit, but took advantage of seven Newman errors to score four unearned runs.  The North Butler softball team is now 1-1 on the season and will be at Central Springs tomorrow night for their next action.

The North Butler Bearcat baseball team hung tight with the Class 1A powerhouse that is the Newman Knights baseball team.  North Butler lost last night’s match-up 14-1 to the top ranked team in Class 1A, but was down just 4-1 heading into the seventh.  The Bearcat baseball team is 0-1 on the season and will be in action again tonight at home against Clarksville.
