Missing Boy Found Safe After Nearly 4 Hour Manhunt

Charles City, Iowa – Charles City Police along with numerous other agencies spent part of Wednesday afternoon searching for a 10 year old who failed to come home from school.

Police say they were notified close to 4pm yesterday about the boy not coming home and ended up tracing his last whereabouts to R Campground.

An officer ended up spotting the boy near the campground before losing sight of him.

After close to 4 hours of searching the nearby Shaw Avenue dump site, R Campground and along the Cedar River, the boy was reported as safe at the Charles City Police Department.

Police issued a statement which reads:

“The amazing thing is that we got people from the Iowa State Patrol, Department of Natural Resources, Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Nashua police, Charles City fire, Floyd County Search and Rescue” and fire departments from Floyd, Rudd, Colwell, Marble Rock and Rockford along with members of the National Guard, school officials and “many more citizens. The thing we want to say is thank you, It is amazing to know we live where so many people care about someone they don’t even know.”
