The Charles City Comet softball team was in Waukon last night for a Northeast Iowa Conference double-header.  The Comets were able to apply the mercy rule to the Indians in both games as they won game one 14-2 in five innings and took game two 12-1 in six innings.  The Comet softball team improves to 7-2 overall this season and are now 4-2 in NEIC play.  The Charles City girls will have a busy weekend as they will take part in a tournament in West Union today that features sixteen schools and then they will host a tournament at Sportsman’s Park tomorrow.

The Osage Green Devil baseball team was in a non-conference match-up with the Crestwood Cadets last night at home.  The Green Devils fell in a high scoring game 14-8 to fall to 2-4 overall this season.  Osage will head to Nashua-Plainfield tonight in a Top of Iowa Conference game that will start at about 6pm.

The North Butler Bearcat softball team got a dominating performance from Taylor Graven as she threw a complete game shutout against Northwood-Kensett last night.  Graven gave up just three hits and struck out 14 in the Bearcats 5-0 win.  The North Butler softball team improves to 3-1 on the season and will participate in a tournament hosted by Crestwood tomorrow.

The Saint Ansgar Saints softball team dominated Lake Mills last night 14-0 in six innings.  The Saints got four hits and three runs batted in from Kelsie Willert and a homer and two RBI from Tara Kramer to help back Alex Patterson who pitched the complete game shutout.  The Saint Ansgar softball team will play again tonight at West Fork for a Top of Iowa Conference game.

The Rockford Warrior baseball team fell to Garner-Hayfield last night 8-1.  The score was just 2-1 after four and a half innings, but the Cardinals scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth to blow the game wide open.  Rockford’s baseball team will be in action again tonight when they host Central Springs.

Other games scheduled tonight for our area summer sports teams include the Charles City Comet baseball team who will host Waverly-Shell Rock in a Northeast Iowa Conference double-header.  The Comets come in at 3-3 overall this season and 1-1 in the NEIC while Waverly is 3-2 and 1-0.  You can tune into the double-header tonight right here on KCHA starting with a pregame at about 5:15 and first pitch of the first game is scheduled for 5:30.

The Nashua-Plainfield baseball and softball teams will host Osage tonight.  The Husky baseball team is 3-4 overall this season while Osage sits at 2-4.  The Varsity baseball game is set to begin at 6pm.  The Nashua softball team is 1-3 while the Green Devil girls are 0-3.  First pitch for the Varsity game is also set to be at 6pm.
