The Osage Green Devil softball team was in Saint Ansgar last night for a Top of Iowa Conference match-up.  The Green Devils used a balance attack on offense in route to an 8-4 win.  Destiny Thompson, Kayla Tubbs and Katelyn Halbach each had multiple hits for Osage who improves to 4-4 overall and 3-3 in conference play.  Alex Patterson and Tara Kramer both had three hits for Saint Ansgar whodrops to 6-3 and 3-2.  The Green Devil softball team will be at Northwood-Kensett tonight while Saint Ansgar will host Mason City Newman Catholic.

The Rockford Warrior softball team won in dominant fashion last night over Garner-Hayfield-Ventura as they beat the Cardinals 14-1 on three innings.  Carrigan Schmitt led the Warriors with a homer, three runs scored and three RBI, and Marissa Norby and Skyler Schmitt each had two hits.  Norby picked up the win inside the circle as she gave up the one run on three hits and struck out three.  The Warrior softball team is now 8-3 this season and will play again tonight at North Butler.

The North Butler Bearcat softball team took care of Turkey Valley on the road last night in non-conference action 13-0.  The Bearcats improve to 6-2 this season and will host Rockford tonight in Top of Iowa Conference action.  First pitch is scheduled for 6pm.

The Saint Ansgar Saints baseball team had their non-conference game in Forest City go into extra innings last night.  With the game tied at seven in the top of the eighth, Colin Salz drove in two runs with a double to put the Saints over the top with a 9-7 win.  Jacob Hyde also had a good night at the plate for Saint Ansgar as he finished the night with four hits.  The Saints baseball team has now won seven in a row and sit at 9-2 this season.  A home test with top ranked Mason City Newman Catholic awaits them tonight.

Other games on our local summer sports schedule for tonight includes the Nashua-Plainfield Husky baseball and softball teams in home Top of Iowa Conference match-ups with West Fork.  Both Varsity contests will begin at 6pm.

The North Butler Bearcat baseball team will host Rockford tonight in Top of Iowa Conference play.  It will be a JV/Varsity double-header with the JV game scheduled to start at 6pm with the Varsity game to follow.

The Charles City Comet baseball team will host a couple of teams tomorrow at Sportsman’s Park.  The Comets will welcome in Saint Ansgar and Kee High and will play both of them.  The first game of this triple-header will start at 10am.
