The Nashua-Plainfield baseball team split a pair of games on Saturday in Riceville as they lost to South Winneshiek 18-3 in four innings and beat Riceville 5-2.  In the game against South Winn, the Husky pitching staff gave up 15 runs in the top of the fourth inning which put the game away.  In the game against Riceville, Mason Hyde had two runs batted in and Zach Bond had two hits for Nashua to lead the Huskies to victory.  The Nashua baseball team will be in action again tonight at home for a Top of Iowa Conference match-up with Rockford.

The Nashua-Plainfield softball team gave up five runs in the second inning in their Top of Iowa Conference game against West Fork on Friday night and were unable to climb out of that hole as they lost 8-3.  Aubry Bienemann led the Husky offense with two hits and two RBI while Meghan Wright threw all five innings in the weather shortened game and was issued the loss.  Nashua softball is now 1-9 on the season and 1-5 in conference play.  They will look to snap a seven game losing streak tonight when they host Rockford.

The North Butler Bearcat softball team was able to shut out Rockford in a Top of Iowa Conference game on Friday night 7-0.  Kayla Siemens and Marcy Jacobs each had three hits and two runs scored to help back Taylor Graven who pitched the complete game and gave up three hits and struck out thirteen.  The Bearcat softball team improves to 7-2 overall this season and are 5-0 in league play while Rockford falls to 8-4 and 3-2.  North Butler softball will host Northwood-Kensett tonight while Rockford softball will be at Nashua Plainfield.

The Osage Green Devil softball team was able to pick up a couple of wins in Riceville on Saturday as they beat the Wildcats 12-0 and knocked off Saint Ansgar 2-0.  The Green Devil softball team improves to 6-4 this season and will host Mason City Newman Catholic tonight in conference action.

The Saint Ansgar Saints baseball team split a pair of non-conference games at Kee High on Saturday.  In game one, the Saints got four hits from Logan Zipse and four RBI apiece from Ben Boerjan and Ethan Mayer and took the first game 10-5.  In the second game, runs were harder to come by as the Saints scored their lone run in the fifth inning and dropped the game 10-1.  With the split, Saint Ansgar baseball is now 10-3 on the season and they will play again tonight in a Top of Iowa Conference home game against Central Springs.

Now we look at some games going on tonight for our summer sports teams.  The Charles City Comet softball team will host Decorah tonight in a Northeast Iowa Conference JV/Varsity double header.  The Comets come in with an overall record of 10-4 and they are 4-3 in NEIC play while the Vikings are 3-8 and 1-5.  You can tune into this game right here on KCHA starting with a pregame at about 7:15 and first pitch is scheduled for 7:30.

The Charles City Comet baseball team has a home NEIC game against New Hampton scheduled for tonight.  The Comet baseball team is 6-4 overall this season and will take their 4-2 conference record into the game against the Chickasaws who are 13-2 overall and lead the NEIC with a 5-1 conference record.  You can tune into this game on our sister station 951 The Bull starting with a pregame at 7:15 and first pitch is scheduled for 7:30.

The Osage Green Devil baseball team will host Mason City Newman Catholic in a Top of Iowa Conference game tonight.  The Green Devil baseball team is 4-7 this year while Newman brings in an impressive 11-2 record.  The first pitch for the Varsity game will be at 5:30.
