Halverson, Berns Recipients Of Gail Morris Scholarship

Charles City, Iowa – Two recipients were recently awarded scholarships in memory of Gail Morris. Morris was a long-time OB nurse at Floyd County Medical Center. Morris died in March of 2016.

Morgan Halverson, who is an RN at Floyd County Medical Center, is working toward her BSN degree through Mercy College of Health Sciences. In her application, Halverson said she is proud to be a nurse and has always been driven to make a difference in people’s lives.

Lisa Berns, who is a recent graduate of Allen College, also works at Floyd County Medical Center. She is currently cross training as on the med surg floor, as well as in the emergency room and OB department at Floyd County Medical Center. Berns writes that she is planning to further her education and receive her Master’s Degree in nursing.

A selection committee read through eight applications before choosing both Halverson and Berns as the recipients of the Gail Morris Scholarship.
