Floyd, Iowa – Nearly 125 people attended Tuesday night’s meeting regarding the intersection at Floyd on the Avenue of the Saints. The meeting was held following an online petition, which has over 3,000 signatures, asking the DOT to change the deadly intersection.

Representative Todd Prichard was one of the elected officials who conducted the meeting, spoke with KCHA News about the meeting.

The intersection is already very confusing and busy, and is about to get busier, especially with a new business set to open at the intersection on the Avenue of Saints.

Prichard said the goal is to get the issue in front of the DOT, because changes will require a lot of planning, time and finances.

Prichard said meeting attendees did bring forth ideas and suggestions about how to make the intersection more safe in the more immediate future.\

Prichard said he collected many signatures on a hard copy petition during the meeting, but there is also an online petition residents can sign. He said he felt the petition would make an impact with the DOT.

Prichard talked about the next steps that will be taken following the community meeting.
