Elma, Iowa – Local efforts to assist flood victims in the state of Louisiana are underway.

Donations of canned goods and non-perishable items are being collected this week and will be driven down to Louisiana on Monday, August 29th. Joe Holschlag of New Hampton is helping spear-head the efforts and says he is confident in the project because of connections he and others around the area have in Louisiana.

Holschlag talks about the effort.

The items will be loaded at 4658 150th Street in Elma, but Holschlag said he would be happy to have items delivered to his shop at Holschlag Bin Sales and he will make sure it is on the truck in Elma.

Holschlag said all non-perishable items, canned goods, cleaning supplies, school supplies along with monetary donations are necessary as almost all homes in the area have been destroyed in the floods.

Holschlag can be reached at his office at 641-394-3057.
