Heavy Rain Causes Flooding, Power Outages

Charles City, Iowa – Heavy thunderstorms rolled through the area yesterday evening through this morning causing flooded roadways and even some power outages.

Rainfall amounts ranged from about 1 to as much as 7 inches or rain across the area with the hardest hit areas from near Riceville to Decorah. Numerous water rescues have taken place across parts of Chickasaw, Howard, Winneshiek and Allamakee counties as waters continue to rise.

Flood warnings continue across the area so be on the lookout for water over the roadways and never cross a flooded road.

Power outages were reported across southern sections of Charles City from about 9pm until close to midnight. Locations impacted by the power outage included both locations of Mike Molstead Motors, Sleep Inn and Kwik Star among others.
