Ex-dental office manager pleads guilty to wire fraud

Decorative Scales Of Justice In The Courtroom

Cedar Rapids, Iowa (AP) – A woman accused of stealing money from a Mason City dental office where she’d worked for years has pleaded guilty to federal wire fraud in the case.

Federal prosecutors say 58-year-old Pamela Harris, of Mason City, was the office manager of the dental practice and had been employed there for 21 years. Prosecutors say that from 2005 through May 2014, she stole nearly $500,000 from the practice.

A news release Tuesday from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa says Harris used the dentists’ rubber signature stamps to forge checks and also used various credit cards issued to the practice for her personal use.

Harris faces up to 20 years when she’s sentenced at a later date.
