Mason City, Iowa – September 25th has been designated by Congress as the National Day of Remembrance for murder victims.
The annual day gives survivors of murder victims the opportunity to remember those lost to homicide and honor their memories.
Crisis Intervention Service in Mason City will host an event to honor the memory of those who have lost their lives to violent crime in the surrounding communities.
The event will include a balloon release in honor of each victim with a small reception before the ceremony. Cake and beverages will be provided.
The event will be held this Saturday, September 24th from 6-7:30 p.m. at Easter Park Shelter House #3 in Mason City.
The mission of Crisis Intervention Service is to provide persons affected by domestic violence, sexual assault and homicide with professional, confidential 24-hour services including safety and support and to prevent violence in area communities through education.
Crisis Intervention Service promotes a society free from violence and oppression through social change, effective community partnerships and awareness.
The National Day of Remembrance on Sept. 24th is free and open to the public.
