Homecoming Festivities Continue In Charles City

Charles City, Iowa – With the flood of 2016 behind us, Charles City students and residents look to have a fun week celebrating Homecoming.

Each day has a fun-filled theme, with Tuesday as America Day. Students district-wide are encouraged to show their patriotic red, white and blue colors. High School students will participate in Spirit Day and Lincoln Elementary students will have a school field day.

Wednesday will be character or twin day, and costumes without masks are allowed.

Thursday, the Charles City High School and Middle School students will have Decades Day, celebrating the 50s, 60s, 70s or 80s, and Lincoln and Washington students will have Crazy Socks Day.

Friday, will be orange and black day district wide, with a mobile pep rally taking place at the elementary schools. A tailgate cookout and events will take place at the high school beginning at 12:15, with a community pep assembly and coronations of the king and queen taking place in the middle school gym beginning at 2 p.m.

A parade down Main Street will start at 3:30 p.m., following by the 9th grade football team taking on Vinton-Shellsburg at Comet Field.

The varsity homecoming football game will kick-off at 7:30 p.m. with a half-time ceremony honoring the 2015 – 2016 Mastor of Sports recipients.

A homecoming dance for high school students will culminate the week following the football game and will be held until midnight.
