Brodersen found guilty of 3rd degree sexual abuse

Charles City, Iowa – Stephen Brodersen, currently of Greene and formerly from Marble Rock, was found guilty of 3rd degree sexual abuse in Floyd County District Court on Thursday.

The trial began earlier this week, in the case of Brodersen, who was accused of raping a woman. The victim took the stand on Wednesday morning. During testimony, she said she was visiting him from Maine when the crime was committed.

Brodersen killed his mother in 1987 when he was just 18 years old. He was convicted and spent 20 years in prison.

Following his release from prison, Brodersen moved to Marble Rock.

The state rested its case late Wednesday afternoon. The case was handed to the jury at noon on Thursday. Deliberations took an hour and 45 minutes.
