Charles City Leaf, Brush Pickup Begins Week Of October 24th

Charles City, Iowa – With the first frost of the season already behind us and the leaves continuing to fall, the Charles City Street Department has announced that leaf pickup for city residents will begin the week of October 24th.

You’re being asked to rake your leaves into the street 6 to 12 inches away from the curb and storm sewers, allowing the leaves to be picked up easier and the rainwater to flow towards storm sewers and not plug the intakes. Leaf piles with brush mixed in will not be picked up.

The final brush pickup will begin the week of October 24th as well. Place your brush on the parking with the cut ends facing the street. Street crews will make one round through town and if you miss getting your brush out in time, the Shaw Avenue Dumpsite is still open daily from sunrise to sunset. Whole trees will not be picked up.
