Charles City, Iowa – With winter just around the corner, there’s a new place to get some walking done in town. Superintendent of Charles City Schools Dr. Dan Cox said a portion of the new middle school is a great place to get some exercise.

Dr. Cox also said the Charles City school district recently received a grant to plant new trees.

Dr. Cox talked about the need for substitute teachers in the district, which has become a statewide challenge.

Dr. Cox said the application process to become a substitute teacher is fairly easy.

Dr. Cox also reminded the district that the end of the 1st quarter in Charles City is on October 28th and there is no school in Charles City on Monday, October 31st due to a professional learning day.
