Golf Carts & Utility Vehicles Could Soon Be Legal On New Hampton Roads

New Hampton, Iowa – The third and final reading to allow golf carts and utility vehicles on most city streets in New Hampton as long as they meet the requirement of the ordinance, will take place at the city council meeting on November 7th.

The second reading was passed at last week’s meeting, with two council people voting against the ordinance.

Though the age limit of the riders on the golf carts has been adjusted to a minimum of six years old, some residents of New Hampton still expressed concern about that age limit.

Drivers of the golf carts and utility vehicles would 18 years of age, and drivers would need a valid drivers license.

If the third reading of the ordinance is passed on November 7th, the ordinance will be adopted. If passed, golf carts and utility vehicles will be allowed on city streets in New Hampton from April 1 – October 31st.
