Shell Rock Man Killed In Crash Near Clarksville

Clarksville, Iowa – A Shell Rock man is dead and two others injured following a one vehicle accident, reported at 7:06 Thursday evening.

The Iowa State Patrol says a 2000 Ford F150 being operated by 44 year old Matthew Dewitt of Shell Rock was eastbound on C33, a quarter mile east of Willow Ave. near Clarksville when the vehicle drifted off the roadway into the south ditch, striking a box culvert.

Troopers say 41 year old Jeffery Dewitt of Shell Rock was transported to a Waverly hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. 28 year old Andrew Baker of Waverly was also injured and transported to the hospital. All but Baker were wearing seat belts.

The accident remains under investigation. Troopers were assisted by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Clarksville Police, Fire and EMS and Waverly EMS.
