KCHA Sports Report (10/28)


The North Butler Bearcat volleyball team competed in a Class 1A Region 5 Semifinal last night at top-ranked Janesville.  The match consisted of a little too much Janesville as the Bearcats went down three games to none by scores of 25-11, 25-5 and 25-19.  The North Butler volleyball team finishes their season with an overall record of 17-17.

The first round of the Iowa High School Football Playoffs begins tonight with first round games in all classes.  The top-rated Saint Ansgar Saints football team will be at home tonight in the first round of Class A as they get set to host Wapsie Valley, Fairbank.  The Saints are a perfect 9-0 this season and Wapsie Valley comes in at 6-3.  You can tune into this game on our sister station 987 KISS Country starting with a pregame at about 6:45 and kickoff will be at 7pm.

The New Hampton Chickasaw football team will pay a visit to top-ranked North Fayette Valley tonight in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs.  New Hampton went 8-1 during the regular season and are ranked fifth in Class 2A according to Radio Iowa.  North Fayette Valley is undefeated at 9-0 so far this year.  You can tune into this game on another of our sister stations, 951 The Bull.  The broadcast will start at 6:30 with a pregame and kickoff is at 7pm.

The Iowa High School Athletic Association and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union will hold their State Cross Country Meet tomorrow in Fort Dodge.  The Charles City Comet girls cross country team will make the trip after their first place finish at the State Qualifying Meet last week.  Charles City’s girls will race in the Class 3A Meet which will take place at about noon.  Charles City’s Gavin Connell will represent the Comet boys at the State Meet as he will be making his third trip to the State Meet.  Gavin will run in the Class 3A boys meet which will begin at about 12:30.  The Osage Green Devil girls cross country team will participate in the Class 2A race which is scheduled to start at 1pm.  Osage will also be sending senior Ben Huftalin to race in the Class 2A boys meet.  His race will begin at about 1:30.
