Charles City, Iowa – With bitterly cold temperatures predicted the rest of this week into the weekend, our vehicles are suffering as much as we are. There are numerous things that are affected in are vehicles with this kind of weather and Steve Robel of Quality Auto Service talks about one of the most common.
Regular vehicle maintenance is a great way to ensure that your vehicle is ready for the winter. Robel adds that your mechanic is looking out for you and you should take their advice seriously.
Sometimes vehicle breakdowns in this weather are not preventable and Robel says it is good practice to keep some items in your vehicles at all times in case you are ever stranded.
We’ll see snow beginning tonight with a dusting to as much as an inch possible by Friday morning with more snow to affect the area Friday afternoon through Saturday morning where as much as 3 to 6 inches is possible.
Things will be getting even colder as well with a high of 5 below on Sunday, factoring in the winds, wind chills could drop to 30 to 50 below. These wind chills haven’t been this cold in a December since 2008. We’ll begin to warm back up to around 30 by Wednesday.
