Charles City Fire Responded To 2 Fires Between Sunday and Monday

Fire damages kitchen in apartment at Highland Terrace on Monday morning

Charles City, Iowa – The Charles City Fire Department responded to some fires in Charles City on Sunday and Monday.

Crews were called to 400 7th Avenue early Sunday morning to a garage fire. By the time they arrived, the garage was fully engulfed. The crew battled sub-zero temperatures and had some issues with water lines, but were able to get the fire under control within an hour. They were on the scene for several hours.

The department was also called out on Monday morning for an apartment fire at 1000 Terrace Road. The tenant reported a cooking fire. The crew was able to extinguish the fire by using a specialized fire extinguisher and the fire was out within five minutes. Chief Eric Whipple said there was some smoke and fire damage within the interior of the apartment.

They were on that fire scene for approximately 45 minutes.

Charles City, Iowa – The Charles City Fire Department responded to a kitchen fire shortly after 8:30am this morning in the 1000 block of Terrace Road, apartment 44 causing some damage.

Some residents on the scene said they were awakened by the smoke alarms.

Everyone was evacuated from the building and no one was reported to be injured. Residents were allowed back to their apartments a short time later.

Agencies on the scene included Charles City Fire and Police, AMR Ambulance and Floyd County EMA.

No official report has been released by fire crews as of yet. Keep it clicked for more updates.
