Condition updates on people injured in head-on crash on Tuesday

Charles City, Iowa – An update was given on the four people injured in a crash which occurred late afternoon on Tuesday on Hwy 18 near Superior Lumber.

Injured were 52 year old Heather Meyer of Bassett, who has been listed in good condition at Mayo Clinic with broken wrists and a broken ankle, 44 year old Anthony Schmitz of Ionia, who was listed in fair condition at Mayo Clinic, along with his daughter 11 year old Mary Jane Schmitz, who is still being treated at Mayo Clinic. Schmitz other daughter, 10 year old Miley Schmitz, was treated and released from Floyd County Medical Center.

The accident occurred around 4:50 p.m. on Tuesday when Meyer, who was heading east on Hwy 18, was struck by Schmitz, who was heading west. Schmitz vehicle crossed over the center line.

Meyer, Schmitz and Mary Jane Schmitz were all flown to Mayo Clinic.
