Basketball With Dark Background On A Wood Gym Floor

The Charles City Comet girls basketball team was in Oelwein last night for a Northeast Iowa Conference tilt against the Huskies.  The Comet girls fell just short of picking up their first win of the season as they came back from ten points down in the fourth quarter to pull to within three, but lost the game by a final score of 49-46.  The Comet girls basketball team is now 0-7 overall and 0-3 in the NEIC.  Their next game will be on January 3rd at Waverly.

The Charles City Comet wrestling team was in Mason City last night for a non-conference dual meet with the Mohawks.  The Comets had to forfeit at six weights last night which was too much to overcome as they were defeated 48-27.  On the winning end of individual matches were A.J. Maloy who won by fall, Luke Hillegas who won by decision, Nate Lasher who won by fall, Shau Landt who won by forfeit and Dylan Koresh who won by fall.  The Comets fall to 5-9 overall in dual meets this season and they will next be in action on January 5th at home against Oelwein.

The Saint Ansgar Saints wrestling team went 2-2 last night in their four dual meets at Eagle Grove.  The Saints defeated Garner-Hayfield-Ventura 48-24 and St. Edmund 66-14, but lost to Eagle Grove 52-30 and Marshalltown 43-34.  The Saints grapplers will next be in competition on January 3rd when they take part in a triangular meet in Forest City.

The Saint Ansgar Saints boys basketball team was beaten last night by North Union 55-46.  The Saints fall to 4-3 overall this season and they will play their next game on January 3rd at home against Northwood-Kensett.

The Saint Ansgar Saints girls basketball team also lost their match-up to North Union last night.  Final score of the girls game was 53-32.  The Saints girls basketball team is now 1-6 overall this season and will have ten days off before playing Northwood-Kensett at home.
