Semi Strikes Mason City Bridge, Gets Stuck Under It

Mason City, Iowa – Traffic was restricted to one lane for a portion of Tuesday in Mason City after a truck was struck under a bridge.

The incident occurred around 10:20 a.m. on 1st Street SW in Mason City.

A westbound semi trailer, which was full of paper, was too tall to go under a railroad bridge.  According to officials, the clearance for the bridge was 11’ 6”. They said the trailer was much higher than clearance for the bridge.

The trailer was totaled. Officials said the bridge was being checked for structural damage.
