Iowa DCI Investigating Sumner Home Invasion, Death

Sumner, Iowa – On Friday, January 6th, 2017, at about 10:55 pm, the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from 1359 Whitetail Avenue in Sumner, Iowa, reporting that someone at the residence had been shot. Deputies responded and located one person who had been injured and another person who is deceased. The deceased subject was identified as 46 year old Steven Anthony of Davenport, Iowa.

The preliminary indication is that the death appears to be the result of a home invasion. We are withholding the name(s) of the individual(s) that were present during the home invasion, at the address listed above, due to our on-going investigation, it is believed that disclosing this information would plainly and seriously jeopardize the investigation and/or poses a clear and present danger to the safety of the individual(s).

The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Iowa Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI). Anyone with information that may relate to this incident is asked to call the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office at 319-352-5400, option #3.
