The Iowa High School Athletic Association held their Regional Dual Tournaments all over the State last night. The Charles City Comet wrestling team was in Denver for a Class 2A Regional Dual. The Comets got wins from Ciana Sonberg, Sam Niichel and Luke Hillegas, but forfeited at 8 weights due to sickness and lost the match 66-15. The season is not over for eight individuals however as those Comets will compete at Districts on Saturday at Iowa Falls.
The Osage Green Devil wrestling team was in New Hampton last night for their Class 2A Regional Dual and drew the top-ranked Chickasaws in the opening round. Derek Fox, Brock Jennings and Caleb Ring picked up wins for the Green Devils, but it was New Hampton who won the meet 64-16. Osage will also have eight individuals competing at Districts in Iowa Falls on Saturday.
The Saint Ansgar Saints wrestling team lost their Regional Dual last night to Lake Mills in Lake Mills as the final score was 56-18. The Saints will have two wrestlers back at Lake Mills on Saturday for their District Tournament.
In a game heard right here on KCHA last night, the Charles City Comet boys basketball team was in Waverly for a Northeast Iowa Conference match-up with the Go-Hawks. After trailing by just one at the end of the first quarter, the Comets were unable to keep pace with Waverly and lost the game 71-45. The Charles City boys are now 13-5 overall this season and they fall to 7-4 in the NEIC. They will next be I action tomorrow night at Iowa Falls.
The Charles City Comet girls basketball team was at home last night for their Northeast Iowa Conference game against Waverly. The Comet girls were overmatched in the game and lost by a final score of 79-15. Charles City’s girls are now 1-18 overall this season and they fall to 1-10 in the NEIC. They will wrap up their regular season on Friday at home against Decorah.
The Nashua-Plainfield girls basketball team hosted West Fork last night in their regular season finale. The Huskies played a good game, but wound up on the losing end of a 59-46 score. The Nashua girls finish their season with a 3-19 overall record and a 1-14 Top of Iowa Conference record. Their next game will be on Saturday when they take on Waterloo Columbus in a Class 2A Region 5 opener.
The Nashua-Plainfield Husky boys basketball team was also at home last night for a Top of Iowa Conference game against West Fork. The Nashua boys were no match for the War-Hawks as they got beat 68-33. The Husky boys fall to 6-14 overall and 4-11 in conference play. They will have another game tomorrow in New Hampton.
The Osage Green Devil boys basketball team was dominant last night in their Top of Iowa Conference win at home over Northwood-Kensett. The Green Devils won by a final score of 73-39 to improve to 19-1 overall and 15-0 in the conference. The Osage boys will wrap-up their regular season on Friday at home against North Butler.
The Osage Green Devil girls basketball team clinched a share of the Top of Iowa Conference East Division with their 60-20 win last night at home over Northwood-Kensett. The Green Devil girls finish their season at 16-4 overall and 13-3 in conference games. They will next play on Saturday in a Class 3A Region 4 opener at home.
The Rockford Warrior girls basketball team also claimed a piece of the Top of Iowa Conference East Division title with their 53-33 win at North Butler last night. The Warrior girls finish their season at 18-3 overall and finish with a conference record of 13-3 while North Butler ends their season at 7-11 and 6-10. The Bearcat girls will open up postseason play tomorrow night at AGWSR in a Class 1A Region 3 opener and Rockford will begin their postseason at home next Tuesday.
The Rockford Warrior boys basketball team defeated North Butler last night in Greene 64-58. The Rockford boys improve to 13-8 overall and 9-7 in Top of Iowa Conference games while the Bearcat boys fall to 6-12 and 6-9. The Warrior boys will play again tomorrow night at home against Lake Mills and North Butler’s boys will play tomorrow at Hampton-Dumont.
The Saint Ansgar Saints boys basketball team wrapped up their regular season last night at home against Mason City Newman. The Saints lost the Top of Iowa Conference game 49-42 to finish with a 14-7 overall record and a 10-5 conference record. The Saints will open up District play on February 16th at home against Northwood-Kensett.
The Saint Ansgar Saints girls basketball team also finished their regular season last night with a Top of Iowa Conference home game against Mason City Newman. The Saints girls lost 61-47 to end with a 4-17 overall record and went 1-15 this season in league play. They will play at Lake Mills on Saturday to open-up their Regional Tournament.
