Thunderstorm winds lead to power outages, hail reports

Pea sized hail and heavy rain impact downtown Charles City on Monday evening March 6th, 2017

Charles City, Iowa – It was a stormy Monday night as mother nature continues her early spring roller coaster ride.

Damaging winds gusts were also reported 1 mile west of Nora Springs, in Rudd where power lines were taken down, and in Colwell.

Nickel to quarter sized hail was reported near Sheffield, Nora Springs, Marble Rock, Rudd, Rockford, Saint Ansgar, Floyd, Colwell, Little Cedar, Riceville, and New Haven.

Downtown Charles City saw heavy rain and pea sized hail as the line of storms were moving off to the north east at a rather fast pace.

There were no official reports of injuries or property damage.
