Charles City, Iowa – Even though North Iowa was slammed with a snowstorm over the weekend, spring does officially begin on Monday and thoughts are turning to the baseball and softball season.

For years the Charles City district has struggled with flooding issues at Sportsmen’s Park, which is where the softball and baseball diamonds are for high school students. However, players and parents alike are looking forward to a new sports complex that will hopefully be ready by spring of 2018.

Superintendent Dr. Dan Cox explains.

Dr. Cox talked about the location of the sports complex and what the next steps will be to prepare start work on the complex.

Dr.  Cox also reminded parents that the Charles City Police Department is monitoring the drop-off and pick-up process for students around several of the district schools, which is an effort to keep students safe with the increased traffic during those peak times of day.

The Charles City School District is on spring break this week.
