More severe storms expected this afternoon into tonight; tornadoes possible

Charles City, Iowa – After Tuesday night’s storms produced damaging winds and large hail, more showers and thunderstorms appear likely across the area Wednesday afternoon and night.

The Storm Prediction Center has a slight risk for severe thunderstorms across the majority of Iowa and Wisconsin, along with southeastern Minnesota and an enhanced risk for most of Iowa into southeastern Minnesota and southwestern Wisconsin.

All modes of severe weather can be expected including tornadoes, large hail, damaging winds and locally heavy rain which could produce flash flooding.

Storms are expected to fire across northeastern Kansas and southeastern Nebraska between noon and 3pm and quickly move northeast across Iowa. Additional development is expected to the south and east which would spread across eastern Iowa and surrounding states.
