Students, teachers and community share ideas to redevelop high school spaces

Charles City, Iowa – Architects from BLDD spent several days in Charles City listening to students, teachers and community members express their ideas about how to remodel the spaces at the Charles City High School.

Senior Associate architect Jean Underwood talked about the concepts and ideas they were gathering.

Underwood said the more ideas they can capture, the better BLDD can present a plan to the district, but there seemed to a general consensus about outdoor space and flexible spaces.

Middle school principal Rick Gabel said the process BLDD is holding for plans for the high school is very similar to the process used when designing the new middle school.

BLDD Architects, based out of the Davenport area, will present renovation and remodeling ideas to the Charles City School Board in the near future.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
