High Speed Car Chase Leads to Arrest

Mason City, Iowa – A Mason City man led the Iowa State Patrol on a high speed chase on Sunday night. The driver of the car, Jesse Halfpop, was believed to have been going above 100 miles per hour.

The chase started because Halfpop declined to pull over his car when a Mason City Police Officer tried to pull him over.

Halfpop’s car would eventually go in the ditch and a patrol car would use intentional contact to keep the car from getting away.

Halfpop is currently being held is Cerro Gordo County Jail and is facing two felony charges, four misdemeanor charges, and a probation violation charge. The felony charges are eluding law enforcement and operating while under the influence.

The end of the chase occurred outside of Nora Springs.
